Charley Mill Charity Shoot
Like many great ideas in life, Charley Mill Charity Shoot was born from one of those innocent well meaning debates over a pint of beer and a glass of wine between friends. Being brought together through a mix of personal circumstances and a genuine desire to make a difference, the discussion turned into a "well what are we going to do about it then!"
A three day event was planned kicking off with a spectacular Gala Dinner for 200 guests in the grounds of a Leicestershire estate and followed by a weekend full of clay shooting competitions, kids activities and a family BBQ.
The Finesse Collection has been an integral part of the Charley Mill Charity Shoot since the inaugural event four years ago. James Blick, Managing Director, of The Finesse Collection is one of the founding committee members and Finesse Hospitality has provided catering and event management each year.
In the first year, 2005, the fundraising target of £5,000 was well exceeded with the event raising £11,400. The event grew bigger and better from there and in 2006 a fantastic £25,000 was raised, followed by a staggering £50,000 in 2007.
The money raised has allowed Rainbows Hospice to purchase a new minibus and plan a new Multisensory Room. CHECT have used the funds to buy a new Cryotherapy machine that identifies and freezes eye cancers.
For the 2008 - 2010s events the team have made a commitment to both charities to support their investments in infrastructure and specialist equipment, by aiming to raise a further £100,000.

Lands End to John O'Groats Challenge

In May 2009 The Finesse Collection Managing Director, James Blick, and fellow Charley Mill Charity Shoot committee member Mark Simes took to the roads of Britain to attempt the infamous Lands End to John O'Groats cycle challenge - approximately 1000 miles.
The aim was simple - to raise a minimum of £20,000 to add to the efforts from the Charity Shoot funds. This money has benefitted greatly our chosen charities of Rainbows Children's Hospice and Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.
The team managed to cycle the entire length of the country in 10 days with sponsorship monies still coming in!
